Intelligently selecting players and creating VERSATILE rosters is essential when considering the small number of committed players on each of our teams. If we are unable to form a versatile roster, we will not form the team until that goal is met.
Our coaches will always focus on the BALANCE between creating a competitive environment at practice, developing skilled knowledgeable players in a minimum of two or sometimes three positions while striving to win every game. Understanding the structure of each tournament we enter and regularly evaluating player strengths and weaknesses ultimately decides the lineup on game day. Positive progress in practice will not go unnoticed nor will a continued line of communication regarding talent evaluations and areas of needed improvement.
We know that teaching then monitoring proper throwing mechanics and maintaining a consistent regimen of proven arm care exercises before and after any baseball activity will always be our top priority! We understand that providing specific knowledge to our players regarding proper deceleration of the arm by rotating around the front hip is the most important skill we teach.
Risking injury by over extending pitch counts or continuing to play any player that is injured is NOT something we will ever do. Please know that when faced with these decisions we will ALWAYS error on the conservative side when it comes to player health.
Our coaches understand that the rules regarding maximum innings pitched in a tournament do not account for specific pitch counts that ultimately represent the actual workload of that pitcher. You will NEVER see a Texas Rynos pitcher throw more than 30 pitches in one inning regardless of the reason the pitch count rose to a stressful number. You will NEVER see a Texas Rynos pitcher return to the mound prior to receiving the appropriate number of days rest based on pitch count amassed in their most recent outing.
With many variables in mind like weather, progressive build up of arm strength through training, mechanical efficiency, maturity, and consistent pre and post arm care exercises taught to our players and monitored by our coaches all DICTATE where a sensible pitch count is set for each pitcher.
Through consistent individualized bullpens / flat grounds / scrimmage innings / and long toss each of our pitchers gradually gain strength and eventually reach their pitch count max.
Long term player health is at the top of our priority list. We believe that winning is really important and the expectation to win is a learned mindset that will aide future success throughout a lifetime. Please know that our desire to win youth baseball games will never be stronger than our desire to see our players remain healthy while striving to reach their potential.
Experienced recruiters and scouts often refer to top baseball prospects as 5 tool players by quantifying the essential athletic skills needed to be a complete player. We believe that potential won’t be reached, and high achievement attained unless the athlete’s mindset or 6th tool is programmed with confidence. We know that confidence is gained through success.
Fear of failure is caused from memories of defeat or imagining future decline. Athletes that consciously fear failing on the field will certainly fail. Failure is an event, not a person. Our players are taught to hold their attention in the present moment by focusing on the task at hand or process that needs to be repeated. When the process is repeated correctly the result is success! Our goal is to prepare your player both mentally and physically for the next level.
Attitude, effort, and focus are things that are 100% controlled by each individual. Good body language, positivity, respect for teammates & coaches, hustle, and staying ready are the expectations set by the Texas Rynos organization. Our players are taught that the score does not dictate effort.
Physical errors are inevitable. How TEAMS respond when faced with adveristy is the difference between victory and defeat. Our teams are taught to play for each other. The best teams are like Swiss army knives, where each player contributes in their own unique way. Our players know that their goal is to be the best version of themselves and that each member of the team brings a different strength.
Devoting time and attention to what we can control leads to increased personal responsibility as well as overall growth. When we come up short, we learn from those experiences and focus on how our players can be better prepared to succeed in the future. You win or you learn.
